HEALTHY ADVENT CALENDAR
- The Perfect Alternative for Fitness Freaks -

Without a doubt, Christmas is my favorite time of the year. There is that festive feeling everywhere you go and we think of the good things in life. We appreciate the little things like quality time with family and friends. It’s a time for drinking hot chocolate with marshmallows and listening to Micheal Bublés Christmas album (my absolute favorite). It's the time for making others happy and putting a smile on their faces.
So as I am a total Christmas elf, gift giving is one of my favorite things during Christmas. It's not the receiving, but the giving part and hopefully putting a smile on the faces of loved ones that excites me the most. So this year, my boyfriend Sebastian and I decided not to give each other Christmas presents, as we will be spending New Year’s Eve in Paris in a nice (but pricey) restaurant. Instead, we'll be making each other advent calendars. He is a man of many talents, one of them being a fitness pro. He is a personal trainer (Coach Basti) and is therefore all about eating healthy and working out. So a regular chocolate advent calendar wouldn't do for him. If you have someone in your life, who is also quite health conscious, but you'd still want to make them a rememberable advent calendar, here is some inspiration for you.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED
First of all, I wanted to make a DIY advent calendar on my own, as I could personalize it to my and his liking. But obviously you can just buy a premade one and fill it yourself as well. No matter how you'll decide, I'm sure your friend will love it either way. So even if you're not the craftiest person of all, there are many premade options to choose from. For my advent calendar I bought 24 white paper bags with 24 sticker numbers, star stickers as well as red and white striped string. You can also get any kind of decoration like Christmas ornaments and spray paint etc.
FILLING OPTIONS
There are no rules when it comes to filling your advent calendar. I decided to buy a couple of fitness related items, fitness snacks and healthy snack options. They may still contain chocolate as I just couldn't imagine a Christmas without chocolate (99% is quite strong, but I know he likes it and it's the healthiest option of all). Above (pictures) you can see a couple of my choices. Scroll down to the bottom of this post to see a full list of items with direct product links. Some of them Sebastian will get in his advent calendar this year, others I have given him in the past and he liked them. Unfortunately, I can't present you with the exact items he'll be getting this year, as I bought some offline and couldn't find the exact replica online. Great places to start looking are amazon, organic or fitness shops.

I decorated the advent calendar with little red Christmas tree ornaments, pine cones, little star stickers as well as DIY-stars made of paper, which I spray painted silver.
All in all, it's really up to you how to decorate and with what to fill your advent calendar. Healthy snacks come in all shapes, sizes and price ranges. I hope this gave you some inspiration on how to fill the healthy advent calendar of a fitness conscious friend. If you have any other great suggestions please let me know in the comments down below, as I am always on the hunt for little, healthy snacks to surprise Sebastian with. He has seen his advent calendar already and told me he loves the way it looks. What he doesn't know is what's inside it. So, please don't leak any info to him as I don't want the surprise to be ruined.
I'm so excited to see his face (hopefully) light up when opening one paper bag a day. This is such a great way to count down the days until Christmas and also, it's a great way to decorate your home. Do you make an advent calendar for a friend or your significant other this year? If so, what theme are you going with and what are you going to fill it up with?
