Going broad is always a lot of fun. But, there is a downside as well, which you may not think of when planning your stay.

I experienced this roller-coaster ride of emotions a ton of times. First, you are super exited to experience a new and exciting culture. Then, you suddenly realize new customs and traditions and compare them to what you are used to at home. You may start missing your old life as well as friends and family. This is very understandable, as getting used to so many new things at the same time can be tough. However, you will have to realize:

"It's not good or bad, it's just different."

As time goes by, you fully adapt to your new life abroad, making new friends and feeling comfortable in your new surroundings. At some point, it will be time for your departure back home. You will be sad to leave. After the first excitement of being home again has passed, you may fall into a deep hole again. You compare the foreign and home country with each other. You again have to realize, it's not better nor worse, it's just different and you will adapt again.

These are usually the emotions you go through when going abroad. At least, that's what it was like for me. In the YouTube video below, I'll explain how you can deal with these emotions. If you know what you are getting yourself into, it'll be a lot easier on yourself.
